Variants of the NS-10

There are SIX models of this famous Yamaha near-field monitor. These six speakers came out in three stages over about twenty years, each new model building on the improvements of the last:

• 1 model in 1978: i) NS-10M [original, vertical, clear mids/ harsh highs, 50W max, limted bass (85Hz), most common today]
• 3 models in 1987: ii) NS-10M PRO iii) NS-10M STUDIO iv) NS-10MC [improved tweeter, 120W max, latter two horizontal, new terminals/crossover, bass to 60Hz, less common, more expensive]
• 2 models in the Mid-Nineties: v) NS-10MX vi) NS-10MT [magnetically shielded, verticle, rare, MT bass to 45Hz]

Note that there is actually no model spelled "NS10", per se. "NS10" ("NS-10", "ns10's", etc.) are abbreviations or nicknames that became standard over the years. This has also been the cause of some confusion between models.
